Google Search Ranking Volatility Cools Down

After a turbulent December and early January, Google Search ranking volatility has finally subsided, as observed by multiple third-party tools. December 2024 witnessed the completion of several updates, including the November and December core updates and a spam update, causing significant fluctuations in search rankings. Now, as of mid-January 2025, tools like Semrush, Sistrix, and Mozcast show reduced volatility. SEO chatter has also decreased. However, experts caution this could be the "calm before the storm," with more core updates anticipated in 2025. Discussions are ongoing in SEO communities about this stabilization phase.
