Google Clarifies: Structured Data Doesn’t Improve Search Rankings
Google’s John Mueller reaffirmed on Bluesky that adding Schema.org structured data to a website doesn’t directly enhance its search rankings. While structured data aids in content clarity and eligibility for rich results, it is not a ranking factor. Instead, it enhances Google's understanding of the page for features like carousels or reviews. Mueller emphasized that visible improvements in search due to structured data alone are “unlikely.” However, it remains crucial for AI-driven features and search enhancements, as structured data supports precise content parsing, especially in the evolving AI Search landscape.
