Google has launched a new AI Mode in Chrome’s address bar, currently available in the U.S. for English users. Users can begin queries directly from the omnibox, get page-aware prompts, follow-ups, and view an AI Overview pane without leaving the current page. The mode integrates Chrome’s Gemini across tabs, enabling summarization of open tabs, contextual help (e.g., Calendar, Maps, YouTube), and stronger protections against scammy prompts. Google also plans enterprise access via Workspace, and promises international and multi-language rollout in the near future.
