Chrome to warn users before loading HTTP sites starting next year

Starting with Google Chrome version 154 in October 2026, the browser will enable its “Always Use Secure Connections” setting by default, issuing warnings to users before loading any public website that remains on HTTP (unencrypted). The rollout begins with Enhanced Safe Browsing users in April 2026, and expands globally in October. Private/intranet sites are exempt.
