Google Adds AI Mode Button to Homepage Search Box

Google is rolling out an “AI Mode” button directly in the search box on its homepage, signaling a deeper integration of Gemini-powered AI responses into everyday search. The button allows users to toggle between traditional search results and AI-generated overviews. Previously available only via Labs, this change marks a more public deployment across browsers like Chrome and Safari. Google confirmed the update on July 24, 2025. The AI Mode aims to offer richer, contextual summaries and follow-up suggestions, moving Google closer to a conversational search assistant experience. Its presence on the homepage suggests mainstream adoption is a near-term goal.
