Google Retires Cache Feature
Google has officially phased out its cache feature, discontinuing the cache link in search results and deactivating the "cache:" search operator entirely. This move was confirmed by Google’s Search Liaison, Danny Sullivan, who explained that advancements in page accessibility and browsing efficiency have rendered the feature obsolete. While the cache link had been a staple for decades, assisting users in accessing stored versions of web pages, Google now recommends using the Wayback Machine or its URL Inspection tool in Search Console for similar purposes. Notably, Google will continue to honor the noarchive tag, respecting publishers' preferences regarding cached content. This change marks the end of an era for a tool that many users and SEOs relied on for years.
